The Missing iPad
Tue, 2011-01-25 10:19 — HerInteractiveNancy Drew Mobile Mysteries: Shadow Ranch is about to launch! We’ve been hinting at it, we’ve been talking about it, and now we’re just about ready to give you the first peek. But before we do, you should check out the lastest video we released. This is no ordinary video; in fact it’s got a mystery of its own! If you can solve it, you’ll be entered into a drawing for a fabulous prize. This is a special contest video we created just for the Mobile Mysteries series, we’re calling it: The Case of the Missing iPad.
So how can you enter to win? Simple, check out the video, watch for the clues, and crack the case. Then email us at solved@herinteractive.com with who you think the culprit is, and why you think so. That’s it! We’ll pick 10 winners from all the correct answers once the game launches in late February. Each winner will receive a $50 iTunes gift card, perfect for purchasing the latest Nancy Drew Mobile Mysteries app! Be sure and check the few fine print rules below:
· All entries must be received before February 15th.
· You may only be entered for the drawing once.
· The contest is open to everyone.
Good luck to everyone who enters!

Tue, 2011-01-18 10:28 — HerInteractiveYesterday was a day of remembrance for heroes past; a national holiday that helps to celebrate equality, non-violence, and human rights. Martin Luther King, Jr. was an inspirational leader that helped shape our modern world by dreaming of a peaceful nation, free from the chains of prejudice. His messages still resonate with people around the globe and still affect change. In his lifetime, he preached for harmony and peace, and we’re still working to make that dream a reality. You can find a few of his memorable and moving quotes below:
“All progress is precarious, and the solution of one problem brings us face to face with another problem.”
“An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.”
“Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.”
Here at Her Interactive, Dr. King’s message is still inspiring us to make change in a way that we’re passionate about. We strive to break stereotypes and the boundaries they create that still exist in our world. It’s hard to believe that some people still think that video games shouldn’t be made for girls! We believe that video games can be created that uniquely appeal to women, and that it doesn’t mean making it pink and “girly.” But we know (and you can back me up on this) that girls want to play games just as much as boys. Of course we’d also love to get the boys involved, because we’re sure they like fun, interactive mystery too!
That’s right, Nancy Drew isn’t just a hero for the girls! Though it may seem as though we’ve each got our sleuthing idols; Nancy Drew for the gals, Hardy Boys for the guys, there are a myriad of differences between the characters that make them stirring to both genders. In fact, I (as a boy) think Nancy is simply amazing for her bravery and determination to be able to overcome so many dangerous and tricky situations all by herself! And I’m sure there are quite a few ladies out there that respect the cooperation and teamwork demonstrated by the Hardy Boys. When you get right down to it, whether its age, gender, race, or religion, there’s no reason we all can’t work together and make the world a better place.
“The hope of a secure and livable world lies with disciplined nonconformists who are dedicated to justice, peace and brotherhood.”

Tue, 2011-01-11 11:21 — HerInteractiveNot every sleuth solves their cases solo. Even Nancy Drew needs the occasional helping hand. Whether it’s an informative discussion about gadgets from George, a confidence boost from Ned, or some expert advice from a notable historian, a little assistance can go a long way. In fact quite a few cases have required Nancy to work hand-in-hand with other detectives, like the Hardy Boys. Nancy is always willing to work with others to get the job done.
When we’re creating a new Nancy Drew mystery, we also have to team up and work together to make the best game possible. Each person has their own unique skills and creativity that brings something new and exciting to game, like story, art, or design. By cooperating with each other, we can make an even better game than we could alone. In many ways we’re just like Nancy; who can take on these huge and often scary cases with the help of a few trusted allies.
In the spirit of good cooperation we’re going to be running a special contest till February. To enter, all you need to do is answer the question below in a short paragraph!
Which character from the Nancy Drew PC games do you think Nancy would team up with best? And why?
Email us your response at HIcontest@herinteractive.com by Feb 7th with the subject line “Partner.” Be sure to include your name, contact information (email and phone number), and permission to post your entry. We’ll pick two winners and announce them on Feb 10th on the Amateur Sleuth blog. The winners will get their pictures placed in Nancy Drew: The Captive Curse! The full rules are listed below:
- You may only submit one entry.
- The contest is open to everyone, including citizens outside the U.S.
- The minimum length is approximately one paragraph (100 words), there is no maximum length.
- You may only choose characters that have appeared in Nancy Drew games, though you may choose a phone friend that you don’t actually see (ex. Ned Nickerson)
- You may choose a suspect, if they are particularly helpful, even if that character turns out to be the culprit
Good luck to everyone!
Nancy in the New Year
Tue, 2011-01-04 10:02 — HerInteractiveWelcome to 2011! Did you have a great New Year? Hopefully you had a chance to play a Nancy Drew game or two over the winter break. We solved a few mysteries of our own here, but just like you, many of us were enjoying some time off. Now we're all re-energized and ready to get going in the New Year, and wouldn't you know it, we've got a big year planned! Nancy's going to be busy with cases this year, but she had some time to write out a few New Year's resolutions to help keep her on track:
- Get a new magnifying glass (scratch-proof this time)
- Work with other excellent sleuths (I'm talking about you Frank and Joe)
- Spend more time with Ned, Bess, and George
- Help Hannah and Dad around the house more
- Take a relaxing vacaction (one without a ghost or mystery or ancient curse...)
What else do you think Nancy should put on her list for this year? Did you write a list of your own?
