What A Comeback!

HeR Interactive is back and better than ever with Nancy Drew: Mystery of the Seven Keys. I bought this game the day it was released and then spent the next 10+ hours playing until I finished it. There are many, many amazing things to highlight about this game. First, the setting and overall ambiance are absolutely beautiful. There is so much detail put into the interior sets and the music score really pays homage to earlier, classic games. I was also pleasantly surprised by the amount of locations that are available to explore, fans will not be disappointed by where their sleuthing will take them. Another highlight is the story itself - a combination of rich, ancient history with modern, technology-based issues. The team blended them together seamlessly, adding layers of depth to the mystery. Furthermore, I would be remiss if I failed to mention the great cast of characters. They are all so beautifully designed, their mouths match up perfectly with their dialogue, and they are all organically introduced into the game so that nothing feels forced or thrown in. There are nine characters to interact with in person, but Nancy also has many other phone contacts (that you can both text AND call!), which just makes the game feel so well-rounded. And finally, I absolutely need to touch on the puzzles of this game as there are just so many and so many different kinds at that! Some puzzles made me feel smart for figuring them out on my own, and other puzzles stumped me to the point of needing a hint, which made me really appreciate how Nancy's task list is laid out in this game, with both tasks and sub-tasks. Overall you can tell just how much time and effort was spent towards the creation of this game. You can feel the passion behind the game and the team's endeavors to incorporate beloved elements from older games and bring them into the modern world of gaming. I have played every game in the series multiple times and I am already itching to replay this one and try for more achievements. I am also already hoping that there will be even more to come for this series... fingers crossed.

Great Step In The Right Direction!

So where to start... I am a long time Nancy Drew fan and have played most of games multiple times. I started Nancy Drew with the haunted mansion when I was about 8 and now I'm 31, I've loved most of them ever since (except for RAN, MID & MED). I was disappointed as most of us were with Midnight in Salem but stayed optimistic all these years hoping for another game. Well now it's here, I bought and downloaded instantly and plan on buying the physical copy as well. I just started playing but what I can say so far is I LOVE IT! The graphics and characters are definitely improved over MID but even more is the feeling of warmth the game has. Also the story is more compelling and the content so far is great... From the coffee shop (making lattes) to the architecture and the Marinette show. I'm really impressed so far... Haven't beat it yet but enjoying every minute. It's not the old games but that's okay the HER team has really delivered on a fresh modern Nancy Drew of the future. Oh and the new voice has grown on me a lot and has been working on her craft. I'm excited for the future of Nancy Drew. Thank you her for 25 years of amazing games!

This Was Worth The Wait!

I love this game! I just finished it this morning. Nancy Drew: Mystery of the Seven Keys is among the best in the series and is definitely a must-have for any fan of this amazing franchise.

The Great Return!

This beautiful game has restored my faith in HER Interactive! The smooth graphics, engaging soundtrack, interesting characters, and detailed story of this game were worth waiting for. I LOVE the fact that I can choose to play the traditional point-and-click or the modern free movement style and that I can switch back and forth mid game. I ultimately preferred playing modern mode, but I like the ability to go back to the beloved classic play mode.
As a long time Nancy Drew fan, I was very excited to see and hear the MANY references to games from the past.
The new Second Chance screen art is beautiful. It is fun and playful - just a work of art that I wasn't expecting! The animations in the cut scenes look very natural. I was especially impressed with one character, who slid their hand on the edge of a counter as they round a corner - it looked so realistic!
This game made me feel all the emotions I used to expect from a Nancy Drew adventure. HER Interactive is back and I can't wait to see what they give us next!

A long time coming!

I have played every single Nancy Drew game and I really enjoyed this game! I loved the open world concept, it was fast, I liked to inspect, however, there was nothing to interact with in the majority of the map. It would be nice to see open world in the future, maybe with some more things to interact with or “snoop” around. I really enjoyed the many characters! It was fun seeing the story unfold, and the cut scenes! The puzzles were pretty good, definitely challenging. I enjoyed the plot twists, this was a game that I got into and really enjoyed, so it was fun to see the twists and turns. The storyline was really good and it does hook you, but some conversations in the games seemed endless. The length of the game was also nice. Another thing I appreciated is that the historical information and real life history was kept in the game, I have always like that! Overall, there were a lot of positives, but here’s a few things I miss compared to old games:

1. The ability to “snoop” on your own and bring the pieces together yourself, and be able to work through it however. The linear story line that doesn’t allow much deviation is not as fun, and it doesn’t let the player be the “detective”

2. The ability to always call Bess and George or Ned for hints.

3. Transportation around a game. I miss the part where you get to a point and it opens a map and you click on where you want to go if it’s going around a city. (Referencing shadow at the waters edge or Danger by design) and you travel in the game.

4. being able to set the time of day yourself and having a place to “sleep” like a room or hotel soon like the older games had! I MISS THE CLASSIC NANCY DREW ALARM CLOCK!!

Please keep the games coming! Even though the style is changing on gameplay, which it’s nice to stay current, however, I’d like to see some of the old “charm” and some of the original things remain in the gameplay. Appreciate your work! Looking forward to some more great games SOON!!

SO MUCH BETTER

Alright, we all felt a little let down on Midnight in Salem, am I right? I'm happy to report that this one has improved by leaps and bounds!

Prague was so cool, the characters were good, the story was good, and it had a lot of fun and different elements to it. Dialogue wasn't endless like in Salem (yay!), and it had a lot more puzzles that made it feel more like a real Nancy Drew game. Animation was also sooo much better than Salem. (I mean, that's not really saying much.) And the ending/climax was so good!!

HOWEVER. It had a few problems. The biggest drawbacks for me were:

- It really struggled to run on my computer. I had multiple problems with it freezing.

- It wasn't intuitive. I wasn't always sure what I was supposed to be doing next or how or if I needed to text somebody. The puzzles were challenging and I had to get hints for some of them, but that probably could've been helped if Nancy had been talking aloud to herself like she normally does lol.

- you can't really talk to Ned unless it's texting him for information and you can't talk to Carson. This was very sad 🙁

All in all, huge improvement, a pleasant surprise, and absolutely worth playing!

Better.....but still not there

After the shambles that was Salem...I had 0 hope in HerInteractive claiming back their well deserved title of being a fan favourite. I was pleasantly surprised in the seven keys as it brought back some of the original nostalgia the Nancy Drew games gave. However, I do think the developers need to replay the OG games to see why the fans love ND games so much. It has never about graphics (we replay the original secrets can kill)...it was about a bloody good story, characters we felt something for and challenging puzzles that taught us something (I fully credit ND for my knowledge in Roman numerals and morse code lol). The seven keys game is definitely on track, but please HerInteractive, invest in what worked, build on it and bring back your loyal fan base.

Love Nancy Drew

I love Nancy Drew games. But I get the box game so I can play it on any machine. So if you have a box game of The Seven Keys left could you please let me know so I can buy one. Thank you very much Jackie L Watson.

I love these games!

I love Nancy Drew games and have been playing them for decades. Is this my favorite of all of them? No, but am I glad they made it? Absolutely! I love that the company is constantly evolving the games and I loved the location of this one. I think the characters weren’t as fun as other games, they fell a bit flat. The puzzles came with very little instruction and weren’t very intuitive like in other games where Nancy would explain what to do before you had to start, like what to click and how to turn something with either your mouse or keyboard. I hope they continue to make more!

What a great game! Puzzles were challenging and storyline was engaging and fun! My whole family of adult children enjoyed playing it together! Can’t wait for more to come!

Another disappointment . Poor graphics and story. Why ? Because you just want to end playing the game. There is no fun anymore. The real ND touch is missing compared with the early games. Is it us the players who are getting older and having higher expectations or these new games are exclusively built for 10 years old gamers.

Sorry guys, but another failure. Try to find out who really is your customer nowadays. Perhaps it’s time you create two versions of your future games. Regards

Great Redemption!

This was a nice refresh for the ND series after Midnight in Salem. The new interface and UI was definitely a learning curve for me, but I was able to pick it up quickly. LOVED the plot line, I felt like it was well thought out and interesting. The graphics were still relatively clunky and chunky and am not really a fan of the art design this time around. The graphics almost make the game look unfinished? Seeing multiple NPC characters be repeated was really uncanny and took me out of the game. I really do miss the old ND style that was exclusively "point and click in the direction you need to go". Overall a great game, and I am looking forward to the next one!

Headed in the right direction

Although not as timeless and classic as the older games, this feels like a good blend between that and the new. Shows hope for more great games to come but still lacks a few things that can be improved on.

I like that it offered two different styles for moving around. We wanted to use the classic way but we switched to the new way and found it easier. But we appreciated that we played the old way and realized how cumbersome it was and then switched, unlike the past game where we had no choice.

I enjoyed this one with more puzzles compared to the last one. Wish there were more easter eggs or references to other games though.

I would love to say this game is the best yet, thats its worth the price and worth the wait, but I can’t. I had to settle for watching others play this game because despite the system requirements assuring me my computer was well above the minimum, I couldn’t get past the first in-depth puzzle before the game was unplayable. Unlike the original series (games 1-32, voiced by lani minella) this doesn’t feel like the same characters or game style at all. I could go on, but mostly I would just like these games to go back to what they were.
